Rootkit Removals are a relatively new phenomenom that was first recognized around the middle of 2005 that was the beginning of rootkits. Rootkits are hidden programs difficult to identify for rootkit removal and repair unlike other virus removals. Rootkits are often used to conceal running processes and are known to exist in several operating systems such as Linux, Solaris and Microsoft OS. Rootkits can modify parts of the operating system and even install themselves as drivers or kernels.
PC Virus Doctors' Dallas PC Repair have perfomed rootkit removal where the stealthy program is embedded in multi-media that entered user's computers through downloads and peer-2-peer programs. These malwares then hide themselves under the root Operating System. These programs may masquerade to hide "backdoors", compromising users systems where other programs may be called on and downloaded to the host computer. These newly downloaded programs may be keyloggers, sniffers, other trojans or malware that then install another multitude of spyware and adware or whatever the malware writers would like to prey on the host computer.
Infected computers with rootkits can launch a Distributed Denial of Service (DoS), relay chat sessions, launch an email spam campaign and more commonly find user names and websites that require log-ons with those user names allowing the hacker to compile a list of user names, websites, bank accounts, credit card information, etc. needing a quick rootkit removal to stop any improper activity from user's computers. The rootkit covers up the trojans while they go about collecting the personal information unbeknownst to the user who may think their machine is clean after periodically scanning with an anti-virus and/or spy-ware and ad-ware removers. Not all rootkits are used for malicious means as some software companies use rootkits to not be detected by scanners while they remain hidden for security reasons. However, if the rootkits are illegitimate then a rootkit removal is necessary for privacy, financial and legal concerns. Computer Repair Dallas often finds these malware as difficult to impossible to remove requiring wiping the drive and reinstalling the operating system (OS).
